1. Overview

The BSF has issued an advertisement for the recruitment of 300 posts of Constable (GD) exclusively for candidates from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community in designated states (for example, Meghalaya).

The posts are being filled via a special recruitment rally/drive rather than a traditional online-only application process.

Pay grade: Level-3 of the 7th CPC pay matrix, i.e., ₹ 21,700 to ₹ 69,100.

2. Vacancy Break-Up & Eligibility

Total vacancies: 300 posts.

For example (Meghalaya case):

ST (Entire State) – Male: 191, Female: 34.

ST (7 Border Districts) – Male: 64, Female: 11.

Educational qualification: Minimum Class 10 (Matriculation) pass from a recognised board.

Age limit: Typically around 18-28 years for the rally/drive (exemplar: as on 01.08.2025).

Candidate must belong to ST category and have domicile of the relevant state (e.g., Meghalaya) for this specific drive.

3. Physical Standards & Selection Process

Physical Standard Test (PST):

Height: Male – approx 157 cm; Female – approx 147.5 cm.

For males (chest measurement): Un-expanded approx 76 cm and expansion at least 5 cm.

Weight: Must be proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

Male: 5 km run in about 24 minutes.

Female: 1.6 km run in about 8 minutes 30 seconds.

Further stages:

After PST/PET, there will be document verification, medical examination. (Some sources mention written exam, but in rally-drives the physical tests are primary qualifiers).

4. Application & Rally Details

Since it’s a recruitment rally/drive, candidates must appear in person at designated centres within the state with the duly-filled application form and required documents.
