👥 Who Gets Access First

Here are the eligibility factors for being selected for the early Android invite:

Perplexity Pro/Max users: Users subscribed to Perplexity’s paid tiers (Pro or Max) get priority.

High Android usage of the Perplexity app: The company emphasises that regular activity on their Android app boosts your chances.

Pre-register on Google Play Store: Users in supported regions who have registered interest in the Play Store listing may receive invites.

đź›  Features at a Glance

Comet offers an AI-powered sidebar assistant that can summarise content, analyse multiple tabs, book tickets, complete forms, and execute tasks on behalf of the user.

Built on Chromium, it supports desktop (Windows/macOS) and now moving into Android. iOS version is still in development.

While currently in early access, the company has already made the browser free for all users on desktop; Android rollout remains staggered.

⚠️ Things to Know

Early Android access is not guaranteed — selection seems tied to your activity and subscription status.

Mobile version might still have limited features compared to desktop during early phases.

Security concerns: AI browsers with agentic capabilities may have novel risks (e.g., prompt-injection). Perplexity has acknowledged these challenges.

✅ Why It’s Important

This is a major step in bringing agentic AI experiences (browsing + task execution) from desktop into mobile.

Comet aims to compete with established browsers (like Chrome) by embedding deeper AI features and changing how we interact with the web.

For users in relevant regions, getting in early lets you shape and test a next-gen browser experience.
