Why teacher certification must go beyond numbers
When we talk about improving education, the conversation often turns to how many teachers we have or how many training hours they complete. But numbers alone do not tell us the full story. What really matters is what teachers can do in their classrooms, how well they understand their subject, how effectively they engage students, and how confidently they respond to different situations. That is where the shift from seat count to skill-based certification becomes so important.
This change is about questioning some of the most common assumptions in the education space where not only the government, but the private sector also plays a crucial role. The real challenge is not simply about measuring teacher performance but about creating a certification model that works for everyone and sustains itself over time.
