India's exports to China climb for 7 straight months in FY26, helping New Delhi soften the US tariff blow
India’s exports to China have risen steadily for seven consecutive months in FY26, giving New Delhi an important cushion at a time when higher U.S. tariffs are putting pressure on Indian shipments.
The surge is driven by strong demand from China for petroleum products, telecom equipment, marine goods, and key industrial inputs. This sustained growth has helped partially offset the impact of U.S. tariff hikes on several Indian products, which had raised concerns about export competitiveness in the American market.
Despite geopolitical tensions, China has emerged as a major growth engine for India’s outbound trade this year. However, India’s trade deficit with China remains large, underscoring the need for further diversification and stronger export strategies.
